Since 1897, the Tate Britain has been one of the primary museums of the United Kingdom. Featuring contemporary art alongside works as old as 1500, the Tate Britain’s collection is elaborate and world-class. The art displayed at the museum is either from UK artists, such as William Blake, or works from international artists about people or places in the UK. Other branches of the Tate include broader subject matter in their collection; the Tate Modern, for example, includes works by Braque and Picasso.
