The Design Museum, located in London, illustrates how buildings can be figuratively recycled and put to new uses. Founded in 1888, the Commonwealth Institute was located in Kensington from 1962 until 2015; in 2016, after renovating and remodeling the interior, the Design Museum relocated from its original location into the Commonwealth Institute’s former building. Because the large building already featured a unique architectural design with its sloped copper roof, the formed Commonwealth Institute building made a perfect location for the Design Museum.
